Kids & family adventures in the Swedish wilderness

Overview

The wild child escapade

On these journeys we offer both kids (and parents) the opportunity to connect with nature and their wild selves in a fun and meaningful way.
Our guides will take you out into nature and teach you a variety of skills for enjoying and surviving in the wilderness – all with an emphasis on having holiday-fun of course.

Our Wild child adventures have a core set of activities expertly adjusted by our guides to suit every season and the weather conditions of the day. These include: Making a fire, Learning about the Nordic natural environment & local animals, Bush-craft such as carving fishing rods or other, Open fire cooking & eating outside, Trekking through mountain and forest terrain and Wilderness survival basics for each season – such as foraging & fishing or skiing, snow shoes & snow-know-how.

Depending on which season you visit, the way in which these activities are carried out differ depending on whether you arrive during the snowy or the summery months. Each season has its own magic and opportunities to explore and learn new wilderness skills!

Apart from the guided core Wild Child adventures, there are also a number of extra activities to chose from including:

Dog-sledding, Husky Experience, Skiing – Nordic ski touring, X-C (cross-country skiing), Randonnee, Slalom, Snow boarding, Snow shoeing, Extended Survival trip, Helicopter trip, Heli skiing, X-C skating, Ice climbing, Journey to the Sami village, Canoeing, Kayaking, Trekking, Foraging, Fishing, Tenting and MTB.

Upon completing an adventure, a Diploma and a Patch is awarded each adventuring child.

Depending on age and circumstance, parents can join in all or some part of the Wild Child adventures. Just talk to us in advance and we can tailor your experience according to what suits.

Each and every person who partakes in a Wild Child adventure will arrive back home with a new set of Nordic wilderness skills and with a closer connection with nature.

More in-depth on wild child

Rewilding your body and mind. Your body has its own wisdom, and as we learn to listen to our bodies, we can discover new ways to look after our bodies and minds.  Inside each of us is a wild woman, a wild man, or a wild child. That “inner nature” includes a mindset that is characterized by curiosity instead of fear, awareness instead of distraction, and passion instead of apathy. This is your natural birthright, unlearned through social conditioning.

To learn survival and other skills in the natural wilderness can give us a whole new take on life. Through using our instincts and relying on what nature has to offer, we are and feel less dependent upon society, and this gives us the opportunity to widen our perspective. Indigenous and ancestral skills can teach us a lot. When we forage for food, drink water from a spring and make a camp fire, we connect with something real. Together we gain a sense of adventure and how interconnected we are with our surrounding wilderness.

Society wishes to tell us that we are all flawed and that various products will fix our lives. We are subjected to advertising for foods, vehicles, prescription drugs, and an endless barrage of commercial offerings that we’re told will fix our lives. In all of this advertising, there is a common theme —You are physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually incomplete.

Human rewilding gives a radically different message. It says —You are physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually amazing. The answer to your problems is available to you within your own innate wisdom.
